  • **Salary:**
  • £35,000 DOE
  • **Location:**
  • Bolton / Hybrid – 1 day per week in the office
  • We’re looking for an experienced SEO Manager to join the growing SEO team at TAL Agency.
  • This isn’t a role for someone who just wants to work through a list of SEO tasks. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of clients, understand what is holding their organic performance back and turn that into clear, commercially focused recommendations and strategies.
  • Technical SEO will be a big part of the role. You’ll need to be confident getting into the detail of a website, carrying out in-depth technical audits and, importantly, knowing what to do with what you find.
  • You’ll work closely with our Head of SEO, taking ownership of your own clients while supporting on larger accounts and helping to develop SEO strategies across technical SEO, content and digital PR.
  • **What you'll be doing**
  • You’ll be responsible for:
  • Owning and managing a portfolio of SEO clients, building strong relationships and becoming a trusted point of contact
  • Carrying out in-depth technical SEO audits and turning findings into clear, prioritised recommendations
  • Investigating technical issues across areas including crawling and indexation, site architecture, internal linking, canonicals, redirects, structured data and Core Web Vitals/page speed
  • Using tools including Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, GA4, Ahrefs and PageSpeed Insights to identify opportunities and diagnose performance issues
  • Creating technical recommendations and briefs that developers and clients can confidently action
  • Getting hands-on with implementation where appropriate rather than simply handing recommendations over
  • Supporting website migrations, including URL mapping, redirect planning, pre-launch checks, launch support and post-migration monitoring
  • Working on complex websites, including large ecommerce sites and ecommerce migrations
  • Building SEO strategies that bring together technical SEO, content and digital PR to deliver measurable organic growth
  • Supporting the Head of SEO with strategy and direction across smaller client accounts
  • Identifying opportunities proactively rather than waiting for tasks to be assigned
  • Updating and optimising websites directly, including content uploads, metadata, internal linking, redirects and other on-page and technical changes
  • Working confidently across CMS platforms including Shopify, WordPress and Webflow
  • Monitoring performance and being able to explain what has changed, why it has changed and what we should do next
  • Working collaboratively with our content, digital PR, client services and development teams
  • **What we're looking for**
  • We’re looking for someone with solid agency-side SEO experience who is ready to take real ownership of their accounts.
  • You’ll need:
  • Strong technical SEO knowledge and experience carrying out comprehensive technical audits
  • A strong understanding of crawling, rendering, indexation, canonicals, redirects, structured data, internal linking and site architecture
  • Confidence using PageSpeed Insights and understanding Core Web Vitals and website performance recommendations
  • Experience supporting website migrations, ideally including complex ecommerce migrations
  • Experience working with ecommerce websites and platforms such as Shopify
  • Hands-on experience with WordPress, Shopify and ideally Webflow
  • Confidence implementing SEO recommendations directly within a CMS
  • Experience developing SEO strategies rather than simply delivering individual SEO tasks
  • A strong understanding of how technical SEO, content and digital PR work together
  • Evidence of SEO strategies you’ve contributed to or led that have delivered measurable results
  • Confidence communicating recommendations to clients and explaining technical SEO in a way that makes sense
  • Strong organisation and the ability to manage multiple clients and priorities
  • A proactive mindset. We want someone who spots opportunities and comes to us with ideas.
  • Agency experience would be strongly preferred because you’ll need to be comfortable moving between different clients, industries, platforms and priorities.
  • **What you’ll get from us**
  • We want TAL to be somewhere people can do brilliant work without sacrificing everything outside of it.
  • Our benefits include:
  • **Hybrid working:**
  • Work from home four days per week, with one day in our Bolton office
  • **Unlimited annual leave:**
  • Take the time you need while making sure clients and the team are covered
  • **Wellness days:**
  • Dedicated time away from work to reset and look after yourself
  • **Regular team socials:**
  • We genuinely enjoy spending time together outside of client work
  • **Autonomy:**
  • We trust our team to manage their work and make decisions
  • **Development:**
  • You’ll work closely with senior members of the team and have plenty of opportunity to develop your technical, strategic and client leadership skills
  • **Variety:**
  • From ecommerce brands to B2B organisations, you’ll work across different sectors, websites and SEO challenges
  • **Location**
  • This is a hybrid role with
  • **one day per week in our Bolton office**
  • so you’ll need to live within a reasonable commuting distance of Bolton and be able to attend the office weekly.
  • **Sound like you?**
  • If you love getting under the bonnet of websites, can turn technical findings into recommendations that actually make a difference and want the opportunity to take real ownership of SEO strategy and client performance, we’d love to hear from you.
