> what we collect
ecommerceguide.com is a research directory. We do not require accounts, do not sell products, and do not ask visitors to submit personal information to browse the site.
The only analytics we run are Google Analytics and Google Search Console. These collect standard, aggregated visitor data: page views, referrers, approximate location, device and browser type, and anonymised search queries that led to the site. We do not run advertising pixels, third-party tracking scripts, or affiliate tracking beyond the outbound link itself.
> cookies
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies to measure repeat visits and session length. You can disable these with any standard browser setting or a tracker-blocking extension without affecting how the site works.
> how we use the data
We read analytics in aggregate to understand which research is useful and where to invest editorial effort. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors, build profiles, or share analytics data with any third party other than Google itself, which processes it under its own terms.
> outbound links
Some links to tools and platforms are affiliate links. Clicking one may set a cookie on the destination site. We have no control over how those sites handle data, so read their policies if that matters to you.
> accounts and paid listings
If you sign in to claim or manage a listing, or buy anything from us, we hold more than we do for an ordinary visitor.
Your account. We store your email address, because that is how you sign in and how we tell you what is happening with your listing. We use one-time sign-in links rather than passwords, so we never hold a password for you. Authentication is run by Supabase on our behalf.
Payments. Card details go straight to Stripe and never touch our servers. We keep a record of what you bought, when, how much it was and whether it is still active, so we can invoice you, renew you and answer questions later. Stripe handles the payment itself under its own privacy policy.
What you publish. Anything you put on your listing, including any images you upload, is meant to be public and we display it. We keep a history of changes so we can check and undo them if something goes wrong, and we keep your content after a subscription ends so it is still there if you come back.
Job posts and submissions. When you submit a tool or a role we store what you sent, your contact email, and a one-way hash of your IP address. The hash is only used to stop the same connection flooding the form, and cannot be turned back into your IP address.
Email. Transactional email, sign-in links, receipts and notices about your listing, is sent through Resend. We do not add you to a marketing list because you bought something.
> how long we keep it
Records of what you paid are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Listing content is kept while your account exists. Rejected submissions are cleared periodically. Ask us to delete your account and we will, other than anything we are legally required to keep.
> your rights
You can opt out of Google Analytics at any time using the official browser add-on. If you want to request removal of any data associated with your visits, email us and we will forward the request to Google on your behalf.
