  • **Role Overview**
  • We are hiring a Shopify Developer to build, improve, and maintain the Shopify store for our growing Australia-based anime-inspired jewelry and accessories brand. You will turn designs, business needs, and store issues into clean, responsive, conversion-focused solutions. This role is best suited for someone with strong Shopify development experience, clear communication, and the ability to work independently while suggesting better technical approaches.
  • **About the Role**
  • As Shopify Developer, you will own development across the store, including theme customization, landing pages, product pages, custom sections, store speed, UX improvements, app setup, troubleshooting, and integrations. You will work with Shopify Online Store 2.0, Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, metafields, JSON templates, and responsive development to create a store that is faster, cleaner, easier to manage, and better at converting visitors into customers.
  • Success in this role means shipping accurate, mobile-first Shopify pages, debugging issues quickly, improving performance, and helping the store support ongoing growth. To help us identify thoughtful applicants, please write the word "seesaw" in your response to the first screening question on the application page.
  • **What You’ll Do**
  • Build, customize, and maintain Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Online Store 2.0.
  • Create custom sections, templates, product pages, landing pages, and reusable theme components.
  • Convert Figma or Adobe XD designs into responsive, mobile-first Shopify pages.
  • Work with metafields, JSON templates, Shopify objects, AJAX API, Storefront API, and admin settings.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, and optimize third-party Shopify apps.
  • Debug theme issues, app conflicts, front-end bugs, and layout problems.
  • Improve site speed, Core Web Vitals, image optimization, and overall store performance.
  • Help increase conversions through better UX, cleaner page structure, and faster load times.
  • Support integrations with marketing tools, analytics, email and SMS platforms, CRMs, and ERPs when needed.
  • Use Git and GitHub to keep development work organized.
  • Test work across desktop, tablet, mobile, and major browsers before handoff.
  • Communicate progress, blockers, timelines, and recommendations clearly.
  • Suggest technical and UX improvements instead of waiting for exact instructions.
  • **Must-Haves**
  • Solid experience developing and customizing Shopify stores.
  • Strong knowledge of Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive front-end development.
  • Experience with Shopify Online Store 2.0, JSON templates, custom sections, and metafields.
  • Ability to convert Figma or Adobe XD designs into accurate Shopify pages.
  • Experience debugging Shopify themes, app conflicts, and front-end issues.
  • Working understanding of Shopify apps, theme architecture, and the Shopify admin.
  • Experience optimizing Shopify stores for speed, performance, and conversion.
  • Comfortable using Git and GitHub.
  • Ability to test your own work across devices and browsers.
  • Clear communication, including the ability to explain technical issues in simple terms.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and suggest improvements.
  • Experience working with Shopify apps and page-building or CRO tools such as Replo, PageFly, Intelligems, Rivo, Recharge, Skio, or Smile.io, with the ability to build and test new landing pages quickly.
