  • ## **💻 Role**
  • We’re looking for a Sr. Creative Strategist, Performance Marketing to join the creative team at

Whatnot

  • Our small but mighty team builds the Whatnot brand and creates high-performing creative across physical and digital experiences.
  • As a core member of the team, you’ll lead the strategy, development, and execution of performance creative across international marketing channels. You’ll partner closely with designers, editors, category marketers, and creator teams to turn audience insight, performance data, and cultural context into creative that drives conversion, engagement, and growth.
  • In this role, you will:
  • Own briefing and creative direction for key Whatnot categories from concept through final handoff, partnering with editors, designers, category marketers, and creator teams to ship work that drives conversion and engagement.
  • Build a steady pipeline of relevant, high-performing creative across categories, with a clear test-and-learn cycle behind every concept.
  • Write and develop direct response TV creative as we grow into the format, including scripts and concepts.
  • Turn performance data and testing results into sharper creative strategy by identifying what’s working, what isn’t, and what we should try next.
  • Share clear category lookbacks with stakeholders so teams can quickly understand creative performance, make better decisions, and improve future campaigns.
  • Stay ahead of trends, emerging platforms, and paid social/DRTV/general digital best practices so the work we ship feels native to the feed and connected to culture.
  • Give clear, specific feedback to editors, designers, and external partners so the work gets better without creating unnecessary process or bottlenecks.
  • Write the copy that anchors the work: hooks, scripts, on-screen text, static copy, and end cards across video and static formats.
  • **Team members in this role are required to be within commuting distance of our New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, or Los Angeles hubs.**
  • ## **👋 You**
  • People who do well at Whatnot tend to be low ego, fast-moving, and curious. They care about the craft, but they care even more about whether the work moves the business. They’re comfortable taking a strong creative point of view, testing it quickly, learning from the results, and changing direction when the data says they should.
  • As our Sr. Creative Strategist, Performance Marketing, you should have 6+ years of experience in performance creative or paid social, plus:
  • Experience owning at least one category, product, or audience workstream end-to-end as the primary creative strategist.
  • In-house experience at a consumer brand, marketplace, creator platform, or high-growth startup.
  • A track record of taking work from concept to execution as both the writer and strategist, with the ability to brief and direct editors, designers and agencies clearly.
  • Deep understanding of audience behavior and creative best practices across Meta, TikTok, YouTube, and AppLovin.
  • Experience making DRTV or CTV direct response ads is a plus. This is a growth area for us, and we’re excited to bring more of that craft in-house.
  • Track record of shipping copy across hooks, scripts, social-first video, static ads, end cards, and direct response formats that perform.
  • Experience interpreting creative performance data and turning it into better briefs, stronger tests, and clearer creative direction.
  • Experience reacting to cultural moments with timely, relevant content that feels native to the platform.
  • Comfort moving quickly, making tradeoffs, and shipping work before every question has a perfect answer.
  • High standards for quality, paired with the judgment to know when speed matters more than polish.
  • Curiosity about how brands show up in culture, especially across creator-led, community-led, or marketplace businesses.
  • Openness to direct feedback and the ability to give it clearly, kindly, and specifically.
  • ## **🎁 Benefits**
  • Generous Holiday and Time off Policy
  • Health Insurance options including Medical, Dental, Vision
  • Work From Home Support
  • Home office setup allowance
  • Monthly allowance for cell phone and internet
  • Care benefits
  • Monthly allowance for wellness
  • Annual allowance towards Childcare
  • Lifetime benefit for family planning, such as adoption or fertility expenses
  • Retirement; 401k offering for Traditional and Roth accounts in the US (employer match up to 4% of base salary) and Pension plans internationally
  • Monthly allowance to dogfood the app
  • All Whatnauts are expected to develop a deep understanding of our product. We're passionate about building the best user experience, and all employees are expected to use Whatnot as both a buyer and a seller as part of their job (our dogfooding budget makes this fun and easy!).
  • Parental Leave
  • 16 weeks of paid parental leave + one month gradual return to work \*company leave allowances run concurrently with country leave requirements which take precedence.
  • ## **💛 EOE**
