Frequently asked questions

What counts as an independent ecommerce consultant?
One named individual who sells their own time advising companies that sell online. If a site says "we", lists a team, or has a careers page, it is an agency and belongs in our agency directory instead, not here. The founder of a named agency who also sells personal consulting is treated as an agency. That line is deliberately strict, because a directory that blurs it is just a smaller copy of the agency listing.
How is the order on this page decided?
By the number of third-party pages we fetched and confirmed name the person, then alphabetically. That is a count of what we could verify, not a judgement of quality. There is no score and no grade behind it. We do not test or rate consultants, we hold no reviews of them, and a consultant near the top is more publicly documented than one below, which is not the same as better.
What does verified mean here?
That we fetched the page and confirmed it names the person and says something substantive about or by them: they wrote it, they were interviewed in it, they spoke at the event, they appeared on the podcast, or an industry body lists them as a practitioner. Contact scrapers, business directories, freelancer marketplace profiles and pages that simply list many names are excluded, because being findable is not the same as being written about. Anything a consultant only claims about themselves is not shown at all.
Why is there no photo, email or city?
These are named living people rather than companies, so we publish the minimum that makes the listing useful: name, their own site, specialisms and country. A sole trader's city is often their home address. Contact happens on the consultant's own site, on their terms.
How do I get listed, or removed?
Submissions go through the submit form and are reviewed by a person before anything appears. Removal is unconditional and does not require a reason: ask, and the listing comes down and stays down, including against future refreshes of our data.
Why are there not more consultants here?
Because the bar is a solo practitioner with at least one third-party page we could verify, and most sites that rank for "ecommerce consultant" are agencies. We would rather publish a short list we can stand behind than a long one padded with agencies and unverified claims. It grows as the checks clear.
Methodhow this list is built

Candidates come from search results for consultant queries across eight countries, then from submissions. Every candidate is read against one test: does this site present a single named individual who sells their own time? Anything with a team, a careers page or a “we” is an agency and is routed to the agency directory instead.

Evidence is gathered by searching for the person by name and fetching what comes back. A page counts only when we retrieved it, found the person named on it, and judged that it says something substantive about or by them. Scraped contact records, business directories, freelancer marketplace profiles and pages that merely list many names are all excluded. Being findable is not evidence. Being written about is.

Order is the number of verified mentions, then name. It measures how publicly documented someone is, not how good they are. We do not test consultants, we publish no ratings for them, and we hold no reviews. A consultant with one verified mention may be the right person for your work and a consultant with six may not.

We publish name, site, specialisms and country, and nothing else. No photo, no email, no city, no social profiles. Anyone listed here can ask to be removed, without giving a reason, and the listing comes down and stays down.
