- We are seeking a commercially-driven, analytical, and highly organized Director of Digital Merchandising to lead the delivery of a best-in-class global shopping experience. Reporting to the Vice President of eCommerce, you will be the primary architect of Ruggable’s digital storefront, ensuring our product catalog is presented with precision, relevance, and commercial intent.
- Success in this role means transitioning from passive site maintenance to pairing intentional curation with algorithmically powered commercial trading. Working in seamless lockstep across Product Merchandising, Planning, UX/UI, Creative, Growth & Retention, Operations, and Analytics, you will architect a frictionless user journey that balances high-taste brand storytelling with conversion-driven shopability. As a master communicator with an elevated aesthetic lens, you seamlessly synthesize data and business imperatives into creative briefs and cohesive site strategies. Crucially, you bring a sharp POV on digital merchandising reporting—transforming analytical insights into decisive, revenue-driving site actions.
- In this capacity, you will manage a team of Site Merchandisers, implementing new procedures and building efficiencies across existing workflows while fostering an environment that motivates and inspires. You are extremely detailed, a project management powerhouse, and a "launch day" leader who ensures marketing and site updates go live flawlessly and on schedule across our NA, AU, and EU storefronts.
What you'll do
- Algorithmic Merchandising, Search & Agentic Shopping Architecture
- Algorithmic Platform Mastery: Own and optimize enterprise merchandising engine, Constructor, transforming raw platform capability into dynamic, revenue-generating automated site logic.
- Agentic Shopping & Personalized Assortment: Lead site readiness for agentic shopping and AI-driven personalization, ensuring search, browse, and recommendation engines partner seamlessly to present the precise product assortment tailored to each shopper's intent and context.
- Advanced Search Optimization: Overhaul search precision beyond broad Customer Experience/Service (CES) or basic keyword rules. Develop sophisticated synonym libraries, redirect strategies, hyper-relevant search rankings, and zero-result recovery models to eliminate broad or inaccurate search outputs.
- Full-Funnel Personalization & Carousels: Architect high-converting cross-sell and up-sell carousels and dynamic product recommendation modules across all key site touchpoints (Homepage, PLP, PDP, Mini-Cart, Checkout, and Landing Pages).
- Testing & Optimization Roadmap: Establish a disciplined A/B and multivariate testing pipeline with Constructor for search algorithms, visual sorting strategies, recommendation carousels, and landing page layouts to continuously improve CVR, RPV, and

- Advocate and partner with the Analytics team to evolve a reporting framework for digital merchandising.

- Deeper Analytical Rigor: Lead deep-dive analytics into shopper behavior, category affinity, cohort performance and basket analysis to uncover hidden revenue opportunities and inform broader site merchandising tactics.
- Proactive Site Trading: Drive a weekly commercial trading rhythm. Interpret real-time BI data, GA4 metrics, customer feedback, and Yotpo insights to identify top-funnel drop-offs and revenue optimizations.
- Catalog & Attribution Strategy: Direct catalog architecture to ensure clean metadata, comprehensive tagging, and strategic attribute mapping that powers backend algorithmic tools and agentic search systems.
- Executive Alignment & Managing Up
- Proactive Managing Up: Act as a trusted advisor to the VP of eCommerce and executive leadership. Proactively communicate product performance and process opportunities across the site.
- Unified Campaign Strategy: Act as the authoritative, highly communicative lead for storefront execution during major campaigns. Take Paid, Retention, Social, and Creative Marketing teams on a clear, confident journey.
- Creative & UX Alignment: Partner seamlessly with UX/UI designers and Creative leadership to prototype site concepts (utilizing Figma), ensuring visual standards and elevated brand storytelling align with algorithmic feasibility and conversion goals.
- Obsessive Project Management & Operational Excellence
- Obsessive Project Management: Establish hyper-structured workflow architectures across central global documents, Confluence and Airtable.
- Global Product Flow & Governance: Establish proactive monthly product flow planning frameworks across NA, AU, and EU storefronts, driving teams to stage and validate products well ahead of release dates to eliminate operational fire drills.
- Launch Day "Command Center": Oversee the end-to-end launch day execution, ensuring synchronized go-live moments for new product drops across all global markets with zero defects.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead and mentor the Site Merchandising team. Build a culture grounded in commercial curiosity, data fluency, technical precision, hyper-collaboration, and pride in site perfection.
What you’ll need to have
Required:
Experience
- 10+ years of digital merchandising or e-commerce leadership experience (D2C, Apparel, or Home Decor preferred), with 5+ years of managing teams.
- Managing Up & Executive Presence: Exceptional capability to manage up, articulate site tactics based on hard data and present confidently to executive stakeholders.
- Obsessive Project Management: Demonstrated user proficiency in Jira, Confluence, Asana or, Airtable, and Figma, with a proven track record of managing high-stakes, cross-functional projects with clear timelines and milestones.
- Hyper-Collaborative Communication: Outstanding interpersonal skills with a natural ability to build trust, bridge gaps between site merchandising, product merchandising, retention, paid media, customer service team members.
- Algorithmic & Agentic Expertise: Proven track record configuring and optimizing enterprise-level algorithmic search platforms (Constructor, Bloomreach, Algolia, SearchSpring, similar platform) with a strong understanding of AI/agentic shopping and personalized assortment delivery.
- Reporting & Analytical Depth: A strong perspective on digital merchandising reporting architectures; demonstrated capability to perform deep analytics on browse and search. Comfortable in GA4, Amplitude, and a BI.
- Advanced Search Capabilities: Direct experience structuring synonym matrices, search redirects, filtering optimization, and search tuning to improve conversion.
- Full-Funnel Monetization: Demonstrated success engineering cross-sell/up-sell models across PDP, PLP, Cart, and Checkout pages that drive AOV and RPV growth.

- Hours and Compensation:
- $170,000 - $185,000 per year base salary
- An annual bonus percentage that varies based on level of role
