  • About Step Labs
  • Step Labs is a premium CRO, design, and development agency for DTC brands doing $1M–$50M+ in revenue. We work with health, supplements, skincare, and consumer goods brands to turn their Shopify stores into serious revenue engines. Our pods are built on craft, speed, and a deep respect for the data behind every decision.
  • The Role
  • We're hiring a Shopify Developer to build, optimize, and maintain high-converting Shopify stores across our client portfolio. You'll work inside a pod alongside a strategist, designer, and QA — shipping CRO wins, building custom theme sections, integrating third-party apps, and owning the technical health of the stores you touch.
  • This is not a ticket-taker role. We want someone who thinks about performance, UX, and conversion outcomes — not just markup.
  • What You'll Do
  • Build and customize Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript
  • Implement A/B tests and CRO experiments across product pages, PDPs, checkout, and funnels
  • Develop custom sections, blocks, and theme settings that give merchandisers flexibility
  • Integrate and configure apps across the stack — Klaviyo, Triple Whale, Microsoft Clarity, Rebuy, Judge.me, Recharge, and similar
  • Optimize store performance (Core Web Vitals, page speed, mobile UX)
  • Collaborate with designers to translate Figma into pixel-accurate, responsive builds
  • Troubleshoot bugs, theme conflicts, and checkout issues quickly and cleanly
  • Write clean, documented, maintainable code that the next developer will thank you for
  • What We're Looking For
  • **3+ years of Shopify development experience**
  • including Shopify 2.0 themes, sections, and metafields
  • Strong command of
  • **Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, JavaScript (ES6+)**
  • Experience with
  • **Shopify APIs**
  • (Storefront, Admin, Ajax) and app integrations
  • Comfortable with
  • **Git, version control workflows, and staging environments**
  • Familiarity with
  • **CRO principles**
  • and how code decisions affect conversion
  • Experience with
  • **performance optimization**
  • (Lighthouse, PageSpeed, lazy loading, deferred scripts)
  • Detail-obsessed — you notice the 2px misalignment and fix it before anyone asks
  • English Requirement
  • **B2 or higher (CEFR).**
  • You'll be in daily written and verbal communication with US-based clients, account managers, and our internal team. You need to be able to articulate technical tradeoffs clearly, write professional Slack messages and Loom scripts, and participate confidently in client calls.
  • Nice to Have
  • Experience with Shopify Plus (Scripts, Flow, Checkout Extensibility)
  • Headless Shopify (Hydrogen, Next.js + Storefront API)
  • Subscription platforms (Recharge, Skio, Stay)
  • Basic Figma fluency to review designs without constant hand-holding
  • Experience at a DTC agency or in-house at a DTC brand
  • What We Offer
  • Remote-first, LATAM-based team
  • Premium clients doing real revenue (no bargain-bin work)
  • A pod structure where you actually get to build, not just fix tickets
  • Direct feedback culture and a team that invests in your growth
  • Competitive USD compensation
